Course Description:
The BLS Renewal Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide adult, pediatric and infant CPR (including 2 rescuer scenarios), use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified, licensed healthcare providers with a current certificate.
Course Length: Approximately 3 hours
Intended Audience
Healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, dentists and dental assistants, physician’s assistants, residents or fellows, medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, phlebotomists and other allied health personnel.
This course is intended for healthcare providers who possess a current* AHA Healthcare Provider card.
You MUST show proof of your current AHA card to the instructor at the beginning of class to take a renewal course.

Written/Skills Exam: Required for completion card
* Current means you are taking the class on or before the “recommended date-of-renewal”. The American Heart Association honors the card the entire month in which it expires. There is NO grace period.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for the course, except for a portion of fees needed for the AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.
BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.
